Do these sound as good as they look? Already use HD600's and DT880's with a proper DAC/AMP and wondering of these will offer any improvements? Or am I better off getting HD800S's?

Hyperi0nThese should be better than the HD600 and DT880, although, depending on how good your ears are it won't exactly be night and day. The HD800 S sells for $1500 on Amazon right now so in theory that should be quite a noticeable upgrade.

Hyperi0nI've only heard the Denon-D2000 (similar to E-MU Teak), HD600 and HD800 so I can only comment on those. So off the bat I know E-MU Teak and HD600 are sort of on the same "tier", each is better at different thing so it would be a "sidegrade". HD600 is more smooth and neutral, E-MU Teak is more warm and more treble peak and bass impact. HD800 is very clean and analytical.
So they each excel at different things, if you want a more relax listening experience stick with HD600, if you want "fun" sounding headphone get E-MU Teak, if you want a lot of details and soundstage get HD800.

Hyperi0nSome additional perspective. I've owned a HD650 twice. I love those headphones and I'm sure I'd love the HD600. When I got an AH-D2000, my HD650s were out the door, not because they were bad, but having both a D2000 and an LCD2 the HD650 weren't necessary. I'll still say they can hold their own against almost any headphone if one likes their signature. The D2000 on the other hand is practically my favourite headphone. While the LCD2 is superior technically, I actually prefer the signature of the D2000 and listen to it the most. And really, it sounds as expansive as the LCD2 and HD650 - well almost as expansive. The bass on the 650 is very good, but the D2000 bass is just yummy in comparison while still being very balanced. I don't consider the D2000 basshead though, I feel it is very balanced.
Oh and I've only listened to the HD800. I will own those one day, but at the time I still felt my LCD2 (and by extension the D2000 / Teak) would bring something to the table. The LCD2 just had this organic weight to it, and had great bass. Sounds like the HD800S tames the high-end a bit, which would help for most music save classical. I'd say having both the HD800S and the D2000 to replace both 600 and 880 would be a great mix. You'd have 800S for an open headphone with expansive soundstage, and the D2000 for an extremely easy to drive headphone that is (mostly) closed with still detailed highs but a more lifted bass. If you like any kind of electronic the D2000/teak is a must.

Hyperi0nIs your LCD-2 pre-fazor?
I have the fazored version..and I find their bass to suck...my Th-XOO destroy them.
LCD-2 fazor is super overrated IMO...

HydeHd-800 are face tweeters...way too bright/hot on the treble...agree with your "fun " comment!

Hyperi0nI can't speak to how the E-MU sounds compared to the HD 600 since I don't have mine yet, but I have HD 600 and HD 800 and there is a very noticeable difference in sound. I love the HD 600's, but they are now for sale. I love the HD 800 a lot more. Besides being a lot more revealing, they are super comfortable to wear. Amazing headphones. I'm looking forward to having a nice set of closed and open headphones once I get the E-MU.
