The good: - I received my EM-U Teak in time before X-mas, on the 23rd Dez. - It looks good, the wood finish is perfect. - Build quality (construction) is very good. - It's comfortable to wear, much lighter than one would suppose seeing the pictures. - It sounds good, overall signature over the whole range is soft and clear with just the right amount of soft punchy bass. The sound definition is nowhere near a highend electrostatic phone, but instrument separation is good. The (teak) cups give a bit of a resonance which positively opens up the room in the upper mids, If you damp this away (with your hands) sound gets less interesting, so the wood has a nice effect. There is some midrange coloration, not related to the wood cup. Specially a light presence boost that I would like to trade in for a bit more upmost octave. I will try different earpads.
The bad: -One of the wires in the cable came loose, after inspection it was clear that the soldering was made too hasty on all points (cold solder joints). Not a big deal for me to fix, but for some this might be a problem. - I had a rattling in one cup that turned out to be an extra screw that was lost inside the cup. - While removing the above, I found one of the screws holding the driver was only half way in. - - I do understand that these problems might be related to the tight scedule for delivery before X-mas, nevertheless it's an expensive item, so expectations are high.
The ugly: - I don't like the cable, it's very stiff. I will get myself a softer and shorter one. - The 1/8" plug has a thread for an 1/4" adapter, but this adapter wasn't delivered with the phone. - Due to sparse packaging the corners of the carry cardbox arrived all pushed in, so it does not look nice anymore.

chan_emuThe sound is great on this headphone. It is worth the time for this product!
Back to the days when we talked about the socket for the replacement cable, we wished to 1) change the stock cable to some "upgrade-cable", and 2) use a shorter cable for on-the-go.
However, the socket does not seem to be compatible with some after-market cable with 2.5mm plug. (Sennheiser HD700) It would be nice if you could change the sockets to the 3.5mm. Thanks!

chan_emuShouldn't there be more than just a "Sorry", for the amount of problems KaiS incurred ??? In an expensive high end restaurant, if a meal was not made satisfactorily, they normally don't charge you, or offer you a completely different meal. But this poor guy, KaiS, had cold soldered wires, a screw not completely in, an extra screw rattling around and a missing adapter. Shouldnt he get like at least a free short cable, if not a different cup wood gift, for that debacle ?? People would really respect that kind of apology.
