Using he-350 2x2.5mm cables and some sol republic replacement cables that are 2.5mm and neither works with the EMU's. Thoughts? I really need some shorter cables for these for use around the house and hammock. I hear redco is good for custom cables and I am willing to spend up to $70 for some customs, but I have no clue what the specs should be. How many channels and connectors and such that it asks for. Anybody know what the specs would be for one that would work with headphones?

BlackramboI have ordered a cable from Redco. I haven't received it yet, so can't speak to the quality, but so far my experience with Redco has been very positive.
Here are the specs that Chan gave me:
Here's some information about how they are wired: 2.5mm TRS ( left ) Tip  ---  L signal Ring  ---  L return Sleeve --  NC 2.5mm TRS ( right ) Tip  ---  R signal Ring  ---  R return Sleeve --  NC 3.5mm TRS Tip  ---  L signal Ring  ---  R signalSleeve --  Return ( L and R return shorted together )

BigGregSo I ordered a cable from redco that they said was compatible and it did not function just like the others. What was your experience?

BlackramboI received my cable today and it didn't work either. If I pushed on the ends that go into the headphone there was sound, but they won't make a good connection on their own. I took a photo and the tips are just slightly shorter than the ends on the cable that came from EMU. I have an e-mail in to Chris at Redco. Hopefully I'll hear back from him soon. The tips on the Redco cable are on the left.

BigGregMust be same for me, the left did not fit securely. Also had an issue with the 3.5mm connector where it would fall out of my amp and phone with minimal force. It is like all the connectors are just a tad short. Nice quality cable though. Weird that this would be an issue.

BlackramboMine clicked in place OK on both ends, but there was no sound unless I pushed the cables into the sockets on the headphones. I'm bummed. The whole cable thing has not worked out so well. Chan told me the cable was 15' the web page for the drop said it was 6' and it actually ended up being about 12' which was just a little too short. Now this.

BlackramboI received a couple of replies from Chan at EMU and Chris at Redco this morning. They're working on a solution.

BigGregI got my cable back from Chris today. Still doesn't function, did you have any luck?

BlackramboI got mine a couple of days ago. It works, sort of, but not really. At least this time I could connect the cable and hear something, but the connectors are just a hair shorter than the ones Chan used and they don't go in far enough to make a solid connection. They'll connect, but if you move your head just a little, they'll fall right out. I sent Chris a photo showing the difference in size yesterday and he's going to try to find a connector that will work. He doesn't have a set of headphones to test them on, so he has no way of knowing if they work until we report back to him.
I'm disappointed that I STILL can't use my headphones the way I intended to and feel bad for Chris. It seems that Chan used a non-standard connector and the whole point of having a detachable cable is to be able to buy an after-market cable.
I love the way these headphone sound and look, but I regret buying them, especially since Chan originally told me they came with a 15' cable, which would have been perfect. If they did, I wouldn't have had to order one from Chris and I wouldn't be out the extra 80 bucks plus the shipping costs back to Chris, and I would have been enjoying my headphones for the past few weeks.
At this point I would definitely NOT recommend these headphones to anyone that actually wants to use an aftermarket cable. If the cables available from EMU fit your needs, then I would heartily endorse them.

BigGregHmmm very true. Fortunately the one included works for me and I just need this shorter aftermarket one to go portable. That is unfortunate that when buying a headphone with removable cables you can't even seem to purchase a cable for it. Chris has been great throughout this process, although I would agree that having to pay shipping back again really is starting to add to the total cost. Hopefully once you are able to enjoy the headphone you will change your opinion of it, it has handily become the goto can in my collection.

BigGregSince you have been in contact with Chan has he not been able to pass along the specs or source for the connectors that you could then inform Chris about?

BlackramboI wanted a longer cable so that I can listen in my living room on my sofa. If it would have came with the 15' cable as Chan said, that would have been perfect. I bought a balanced cable in addition the standard cable so I could use it with my Schiit Mjolnir in my bedroom, so I've used them there and also with my computer system. They are great sounding headphones and both the cables Chan provided work great, but they are both too short for how I intended to use the headphones. I'm very happy with the headphones, just not happy with the cable situation. Chris has been great and I feel bad that he's had to do so much extra work.

BlackramboI don't understand why Chan has not helped Chris. I have heard one side of the story but won't repeat it here. I contacted Chan and he said he would sell me the connectors for $15. I'm not happy that i have to spend another 15 bucks plus shipping costs back to Chris again, but I kind of said F it, let's just get this done and over with and hopefully soon I can start enjoying my headphones the way I intended.

BlackramboChris sent back the cable with the connectors that Chan provided. Unfortunately, it still doesn't really work. The connectors snap in securely and I get sound from both channels, but the right channel keeps cutting out whenever I move. I tried switching the ends of the cable and the problem travels to the left channel when I switch the connectors, so it is definitely an issue with the cable. I'm not sure if it is the connector, or a problem with the way it was attached to the cable, but both Chris and I gave up. He gave me a partial refund (minus the shipping costs I think). He went above and beyond to try to make things right, but at the end of the day, the cable still doesn't work and I am back to square one.
I'm going to look into other options, like an extension cable or getting a longer cable for one of my other sets of headphones.

BigGregNever could get a reply out of Chan, guess it wouldn't have made much of a difference. Ohhh well, guess I didn't really NEED them to be portable anyways.
