I've had my eye on these for a very long time. So far I can't find anything that can beat the SQ of my Heir Audio 8.0 universal IEMS. I am a proud bass head and I've compared many IEMS that claim excellent quality bass. I should just stick with my 8.0s and stop looking, but I am always curious if there may be better out there. (Shure 846 sucks, Noble Dulce Bass was a let down. IMHO)
Now, I've heard these velvets are good but had some manufacturing problems in the past, have these issues been fixed?
From headfonics:
"The first batch of the EarSonics Velvet was also suspect to quality issues with some listeners experiencing minor cracks on the plastic portion of the right earpiece. EarSonics have since attempted to fix this issue, however, with the release of their second batch improving both the quality and much needed durability of the IEMs."
Edit: I just noticed there is a comparison between the Heir Audio 8.0 and the Velvets in the Headfonics comments. :) Now I am very curious.

OneLoveIn what way would you say the dulce bass was a let down? I have the choice of buying the dulce bass at a similar price to this, and im really not sure which way to go!

Saveem9657It had the same level of bass as my Heir Audio 8.0 so no difference for me. I just assumed more bass than normal. My mistake.

Saveem9657I bought a Dulce Bass and returned it for this recently. Velvet is superb, Dulce Bass was the worst headphone purchase I've made. I also have an IE800, EX1000, ASG 2.5, Primo 8 and have owned SE846, K3003, FX-850 among others.

drewsSo which part of the velvet do you prefer to the dulce bass? Was it the overall sound signature or the technicalities (seperation, soundstage, imaging etc)?

Saveem9657The bass on the Dulce is flabby, the treble is gritty, the sound is hollow and unnatural. I didn't like my SE846 but I can understand its appeal, not so with the Dulce. The Velvet completely outclasses the Dulce - if you like a warm signature, slightly V-shaped, wide soundstage I expect you'll be very happy with it. BTW, Noble charges a 20% restocking fee on returns if you don't like it -and you won't (if you've ever heard good earphones).

drewsThanks for that, impressions on the dulce are fairly hard to come by. I may just save some money and look for campfire andromedas, they seem to have the perfect sound sig for me being bery slightly V-shaped but mostly natural

OneLoveThey fixed the manufacturing issues, which were with the first run of black shells. The crystal version hasn't had the same problems. Here's a review that compares it with the 8.A: http://www.head-fi.org/products/earsonics-velvet/reviews/12582

drewsHi, would you please elaborating on your opinion of the Primo 8 IEMs, both individually and in comparison to the velvets? I recently purchased the Primo8s via massdrop, which I like, but wouldn't mind more bass and I'm very curious how these compare and if the money spent would result in a substantial upgrade. Thanks in advance.
