Really need a quality dap on which I can install the Roon remote. Will this allow that?
Do have to say, wish this had dual sd card slots. But if it can be a Roon endpoint, I can overlook that.
Love the power rating. I see so many daps, even some amps, with under 100mw of power. I laugh. Immediately scratch those off the list.

m8omanIt should be able to do Roon! The Explorer is an open source Android, so as long as you have an APK you should be golden.

m8omanI'd recommend looking into the Fiio X5 gen3 - has dual slots and is a fair bit cheaper than this one.
That being said I'd definitely be interested in taking one of these for a spin.

SlobloIt may be cheaper, but let's just say that sound quality has a tendency to scale along with price ;)

mrsamsamuelseh, I'm not so sure that's always the case. I've a few pieces which hit well above their price point.
FWIW I've no issues with my x5's sound aside from the slightest bit of noise when using VERY sensitive iems.
It's also quite versatile with the dual card slot (in addition to 32gb integrated) and it can be used as a desktop DAC with only a bit of driver messing about. (I'm sure the same could be done with this, but I'm less convinced they have drivers for it prepared already)
APTX bluetooth puts it right on the cutting edge of wireless as well.
Edit: After reading the headfonia review and specs I'm even less convinced ~ this is a beautiful piece of hardware, but it sounds like there are some quirks that need work before I myself would get in on it. Hopefully gen2 has a USB-C port as well as microUSB seems to be getting a bit long in the tooth. (fiio isn't innocent here either)

makethemusicI wonder tho if it will handle high rez then. I just learned the Pioneer/Onkyo for example will only do so with its provided pkayer.

SlobloI have a Opus #1, 400 Gig and 256 Gig card in it. The Roon experience is so much more than music from a DAP.

m8omanNot sure what you're saying to me? There opus seems like great value as well.
I just mentioned the x5 since it's a very capable DAP which should work with roon and has 2 micro SD slots.

m8omanIt depends on the specs of that player, and whether or not the player is bypassing Androids inherent 16bit downsample issue. Our player, UAPP, does this, and outputs the full 24-192, but I can't officially speak for others.

makethemusicAre you saying the Roon apk can be installed on it (you did say that above), but also will not downsample on playback? (Usually it is only the built-in player that takes advantage of the enhanced hardware.) Thanx
