This is the most uncommented upon item I've seen here at Massdrop!
Anyone familiar with these knives? Unlike many items hereabouts, the prices on these appear to be well below the listings at Amazon, et.al. Good knives, do you think, for a kitchen incompetent who nonetheless appreciates a balanced, well-performing blade?

orsonwellzI think these were launched on indiegogo some time ago, might be more comments there.

orsonwellzI purchased the 6piece set with the block a while back. (On a different site) My take on these knives. Aesthetics: They are as gorgeous in hand and on the shelf as they appear in the pictures; with one exception: The spacings on the block are too close together. With the thickness of the handles, to place them in adjacent slots would force you to angle the knives in storage. Weight: Very light. This works great when dealing with small or delicate foods: paring, mincing, slicing delicate meats. Blades: extremely sharp. Put to the tomato test, it sliced with no effort. :P The blades are ceramic. They retain their edge but are brittle. I admit, I loved these blades when I bought them. However, they now see very little use, I opt for my Shun, Wusthoff, or my favorite (some Japanese knife I purchased at Bowery Kitchen Supply, in NYC) They do look great on the countertop.

Tisi.pAre you sure they're ceramic? It's listed as 5Cr15MoV, which is most definitely stainless, and not a very hard one at that.
