The bass response is from the passive radiators. Passive radiators mean flappy rubber membranes. There are two membranes per speaker and the box appears to be well divided (top to bottom). So the back of the full-range mid generates vibrations inside the box which is used to wiggle the flappy rubbers. The top and bottom sections of box are each "tuned" to different bass frequencies which will amplify that frequency and its harmonics. This all leads to a no-so-flat response curve in bass region. Not to worry, other companies have been playing similar tricks for years and people snatch up their goods. It is all fixed by the human mind's need to fill in the missing pieces.
