These look a lot like "repackaged"/re-tuned Monoprice 8324s with a removable cable. Not a bad thing, they're amazing cans for the $$$.

Jeremiah_RAs far as I know the Edifier is the original Japanese version, and Monoprice the newer Chinese OEM.

stillseasEdifier (I think) is the company that bought Stax, and I assumed they were Japanese, but I could be wrong. There are a lot of H850 clones (or OEMs), but my impression from a *lot* of looking is that this H850 is the original. But then, headphones at this price are made in large batches, and there's not even a guarantee they'll sound the same as Goldenears measured. For what I'm paying here I'm hoping for the best, but I'm prepared for disappointment too.
