Trust me its no tactic. Edifier is taking this sku exclusively and asked us to take the drop down as of today. In fact the last two times we ran this product it sold nearly 100 units each time. So by stopping it early it looks like we wont be able to reach half that.
We have way to much respect for our awesome community members to do something as you implied.

so whats the difference between these and the 1280DB's? i was thinking about buying the 1280DB's but now i see these which retail for $50 more on amazon. but are the same price as the 1280DB's. Are these considered "better"? or is it just a different style.

shadowkon626Looks like the 1280s are smaller, these have BT functionality, with some minor differences in their power consumption and what not.

New Update on the R1700BT. Massdrop got news this morning that Edifier will be going exclusive with the R1700BT model going forward. Meaning that very soon the only place you can purchase them is through Edifier direct. This will be the last time that you see it on Massdrop and at this price. If you have been waiting, this is your last chance.

Not well-versed on audio - are these good as normal speakers? Thinking of getting them as a present for my partner as his speakers blew. Only used with turntable.
