I bought the 2.1 edition of these in 2014 from NXIC for $299.79 without tax and free shipping. Before those, I purchased the Telex EV SonicXS 2.1. I looked at many options before finding the EV's on sale at CompUSA on a sale isle (Yes CompUSA...old school). I used them for about 6 years as over the top computer speakers until one day they died. Those speakers BANGED so I couldn't look back when replacing them. In fact, I looked hard for those exact speakers, but they were way past their life cycle. In my search, I saw the Edifier S730, which is the same as the S760D, just a 2.1 system. I have this system connected to my everyday recreation PC. I watch Youtube music videos, listen to music (way too loud) and monitor any sounds that come from my pc. With these, the basslines and kick drums are deep. When I fire up music, they do not disappoint. In fact, I use these more like a main stereo unit than just computer speakers. With so many streaming services, music sources are endless. The only con is I find the speakers to be very flat out of the box. Easy fix though: EQ. I brightened these up by raising the 8k and 16k frequencies; punched the bass and tuned the mids. Now these sound like bad ass computer speakers! I crank these without getting distortion. Also the bass stays tight, even at high levels. Sometimes woofers get "loose" and "muddy" as you raise the volume. Not these. Unfortunately these are older than the bluetooth craze, so no wireless connection, but there is an aux input so you can add any device with a line out. If you use them with a connected device, like with a PC, you won't even care. By the way, did I mention bass? Yeah.....apartment dwellers expect a knock from neighbors often if you crank these
