I think the more serious/useful version for those who need a scope to solder SMTs (which is presumably why many of us in the DIY community care) is going to either be a binocular or trinocular (allows a camera) on a boom, such as an AmScope. Soldering via a camera adds too much latency, but it is useful for inspection after the fact. Sure it's $400+ but you'll be set for the rest of your life...
Does this work with MacOS? Looking for a fun gift for my 8th year old daughter.
Got mine, and it's kinda nice for the price point. Works with Windows 10 built in camera app and has a built in battery as well.
All in all, not bad at all.

When it's connected to the computer, it shows the feed in real time in the Camera app. When it's not connected it shows on the built in screen.

Is it using USB?
The computer support , windows xp vista, leads me to believe that this is a dated model. Will it work with windows 10?

Looking at the exact model page it list compatibility with Win 7-bit/ 32-bit/ 64-bit. I would imagine it will work with Win10.
This would be fun to take on short hiking trips to investigate different natural small wonders like lichen and to see what's living in the water. I have no experience with microscopes and not sure if this one is worth the $

Thats just a magnifier lens that you clamp over the camera lens on your phone...

Yes, that's right. You can't get very much for that price.
