It's indeed ultralight, but on the other hand I think it's better to get ones with extra weight (which doesn't go into your pack), and has better stronger grip
Contacted mass drop and was informed that 30 days had passed since purchased and I was out of luck. I purchased prior to hiking season … don’t purchase early I guess. Pay a little more and buy atREI or other outdoor supplier that backs their products.
went to ski tour, took my brand new poles with (of course) , one pole was broken after one hour climbing up ! Yes it was really icy and not easy conditions to climb up, maybe it’s even my fault, but really I don’t wanna concentrate on the poles , you have to concentrate on your route! Well after struggling one more hour , we had to ski down with all group just because of my broken pole! Sad
Really disapointed...
Flik locks broken on both poles.
They look nice but are useless without the locking meanism.
We´ll see how the costumer service works...
Hi MonnoM.
I was i contact with Massdrop and they could not help me with the poles.
No spareparts, no contactinfo to the manufacturer...
They offered me a full refund if I shipped the poles back or 20 % if I would choose to keep them.
I took the 20 %. No use shipping broken poles halfway around the globe...
Havent fixed them yet, seems to be hard finding the right spareparts.
Maybe I´ll just tape them in a fixed position and use them on trecks nearby.
I also learned that Massdrop deals is not always very good... Found the same poles for less online.
I didnt do my homework...
So I really have to blame myself. Massdrop, i think, was fair and just!
These are my first carbon fibre poles after using aluminium poles for many years. I love them! They seem to absorb shocks more than aluminium. They also feel well balanced. They are slightly heavier than the light weight aluminium poles that I was using. I think that is due to the extra grip length which is handy when climbing steep hills. I've only used them for a few days so far, maybe 100km in total, but so far so good.
