Couldn't be happier with mine. They sound slightly better than my old Denon D1001's. A bit more resolving, less muddy. It's maybe the wood, or maybe that they're newer. But the difference is certainly there. Great straight out of an iPhone, which is how I basically always use them. Isolation is not great, but good for an office or casual listening. You won't block out a crying baby, but it drowns out normal office noise when music is playing easily. Extremely light and comfortable, though the earcups will be very tight for those with bigger ears. The walnut is gorgeous (see my pictures on page 4).
Yes, you're paying a bit more for real walnut earcups vs the Creative Aurvana Live. So? Isn't that how things work, you pay more for a better build with better materials. I definitely think the price difference is worth it.

avipI never had the CAL at the same time as this. However, I slightly preferred the D1001 to the CAL, and I slightly prefer the Walnut to the D1001. I'd say these are less boomy (less ringing on the impulse response) and have better resolution. But overall they do sound very similar.
