as a pair savings is around 7-10 bucks compared to buying them together from county comm.
I'm just dying over here that 489 people thought that they really needed a 'robotic' breacher bar. I wonder if it was sold by 'Fluffy Bubblepants' would the number be quite as high?

This is another obvious piece of mall ninja tacticool gear. Not sure why you are so personally invested in it. Here is some tacticool text quoted from the manufacturer. "Here's What Our Over-Protective Legal Department Has To Say: Although the EOD Breacher Tool was developed and designed to enter the real world of urban combat, and with a little work with a file, belt sander, grinder, stone or a rock to it could be sharpened and converted to a Deadly stabbing or slashing instrument we can't recommend it. Likewise, the flat on the handle end should not be used as a skull or rib crusher or for performing other blunt trauma.. It just doesn't get more mallninja than that.

no this is another stereotypical jackass who hasn't bought any EDC items doesn't want any never intended to buy any and is just trolling for attention.. and to self flagellate over his " witty" comments like i said "yawn" say goodbye loser , ignore engaged

Hi there! Does anyone from Germany have any experiences with the customs regarding a tool such as this? I mean, for knives etc. there are clear regulations and one can meet the decision accordingly. When it comes to a pry bar or anything like this, I have no idea, how the customs will react on it. Sure, pry bars are being sold in Germany as well, but like said, no clue how the customs will react on this thing. Any help would be appreciated.
I have quite a few of these laying around the house, some in titanium even. I'm not quite sure what to use them for, but it's kinda cool looking. For those who are "prying", what are you prying exactly??
Is it normal for the short edge of the larger one to be a wobbly and imperfect? The smaller one is so perfectly machined, it's a bit odd that the larger one's chisel edge has such a noticeable imperfection. Every other edge on these things is so straight I feel like I could draw a line with them.

no that sounds like a production defect , i would get with Massdrop and see if you can get it exchanged.. if not contact County Comm/ Maratac directly.. they stand behind their products
They’re good for something. It’s nice to have them on hand.
I don't understand who this is intended for. Rescue personnel probably already have one. What are the rest of us supposed to do with this? Breaking and entering?
WashingtonGuy
I use mine all the time - well did, I've since misplaced it so will be ordering this set. Better than using a screwdriver for prying tasks.
In the picture the items are stamped made in USA. But the description says ships to USA? Where are they shipped from if they are made in the USA.
remydaisy
Just means it can only ship to US addresses, not that it's shipping from outside the US. They are shipping from Massdrop's warehouse.
For anyone who bought one of these, are the edges sharp (enough to damage canvas) and how much did it drop for?
blackICE
no, they’re not sharp enough to cut anything but i’d recommend the kydex sheath from county comm. not sure about the price since i bought mine directly from cc
blackICE
no but you can sharpen them...but doing that would thin/weaken the edge and make it pretty much useless for scraping/ prying.
So the drop is a couple of 50 cent pieces of steel someone drilled holes into? Is this made by the same people that made the $30 bamboo plank?

You could try and I’m sure someone would buy it...but you would be more successful if you took 1045 carbon steel, machined it, ran it through a controlled heat treatment process, and then charged $30 for it. Stainless steel has a lower tensile strength than mild steel and a much lower tensil strength than 1045 carbon steel. Plus, you wouldn’t be able to heat treat Stainless steel to obtain the same hardness that can be obtained with 1045.
Aardvark2
dont buy it.. bye.
About the steel: 1045 is a medium carbon plain carbon (not alloyed) steel. It has a nominal carbon content of .45%. High carbon steels have .8% carbon or more. Rockwell C hardness of 45 is in the range of what is usually called "spring temper." It means that wear resistance is moderate but the steel is difficult to deform. Shovels and other tools used to exert leverage are often hardened to this range. I'm sure 1045 makes a fine pry bar. It's not an exotic material but it's good for this application. If the tools are hardened by martempering , a readily available process that is used on springs and small parts, they'll be even better because it will guarantee uniform hardness throughout the part.
I own one from when they first went live on CountyComm. It’s a great pry bar that I added a paracord wrap to for grip and it’s even better. I also carry it as a “area denial” wedge as it can be stuffed into the seam of a door jam at most places that use commerial fire resistant doors. It prevents the door from opening more than 15 degrees.
Are these sharp? If not can they be sharpened effectively?? Iwas looking for a chisel knife and these might be a good solution.

don't settle for crap get the CRKT M.A.K 1, great knife and tool, a few faces come pre sharpened and i suggest you learn how to use it before you mess with it or need to use it in an actual emergency, the sharpened edge is only one one side of the blade and is on the reverse side so when you are cutting a seatbelt or backpack off of someone the sharpened edge is always facing away from them, it's an excellent knife for what it's meant to do, also the chisel aspect is great as well, you could a chin up off this thing and it wouldn't deform, can't say the same for the $12 mora mentioned above and don't get me wrong moras are great knives for the money but it's just that for the money, there lots of better knives on the market than anything mora makes, just not for the money, so for value based choices i'll recommend mora all day long but if someone is actually looking for a good tool that they maybe putting theirs or someone else lives on the lines with I'll typically have to recommend something else. https://www.bladehq.com/item--CRKT-MAK1-McGowan-Fixed--6565
Mine just arrived in the UK. Same issue as other folks. Received a CERT bar instead of the smaller variant
So I've filled out the Order Inquiry and sent two emails to support@massdrop.com, and I haven't heard back about what's happening with correcting our orders. It's been over a week...
I got the wrong bar as well...
Well, I received my order today and received a large breacher bar as well as a C.E.R.T. bar instead of smaller breacher bar.
Same here. Cert and large bar....

Hey everyone -- Our Logistics and Support teams are aware of the issue and have received support tickets from a few members, but not an overwhelming amount so far. As with all issues after a package has shipped, the best way to get help is to submit a Specific Order Inquiry so that all the details of your order can be referenced: https://www.massdrop.com/support
Just received the set, was under the impression that there was 1 large and 1 smaller bar. However received 2 large bars: 1 Breacher Bar and 1 C.E.R.T. BAR ( WITH GAS SHUT OFF WRENCH ). ???

Hey everyone -- Looks like there may be something wrong with the order that affects a few people, so we're going to flag this for our Logistics team and ask @Tyler.H to get in touch with the vendor. We will have an update for you ASAP, thanks for letting us know and sorry for any inconvenience. We'll do our best to resolve it quickly. -- Jonas

Hmmmm Instead of the Breacher Bar & Mid Breacher, the Breacher & Cert Bar arrived. Was hoping for the smaller bar since IT'S THE ONE PICTURED.

Yep. Same here.
So that's what that hole is for. I was confused. And yes I got the same thing as it seems a lot of people got. Just filled out support case.

Back when Miles Stairs used to sell Countycomm items, he would not ship these EOD bars to The Netherlands, as all of them were seized by customs.
Is tax added on to the price for California buyers?

Yes. Which kills a lot of MD deals for me.
It's an EOD breacher bar... if you're not EOD, or breaching EOD stuff, you probably don't need it.... and a flat head screwdriver can't chop, lol.
save a lot of money, its called a flat tip screw driver $2

I am just having trouble seeing what I would actually use this for....

I have one I bought from CountyComm a couple years ago. I really think its cool but I haven't used it very often. It did come in handy for breaking down a pallet once when I didn't have access to a normal crowbar or hammer. It is very situational - if you can't think of times where it would be useful it might not be something you use very often (or ever).
