Previously used EQ5, great improvements, and good support. Recommend taking advantage of additional training.

jan.gezonCan you suggest where one can get additional training? Through EQ videos? By taking an online or in-person class somewhere? I am not familiar with any design software but I have decent computer skills. I am interested in purchasing this to design quilts and, more specifically, to use it to audition fabrics in various common/traditional blocks.. I have a really hard time envisioning what a set of fabrics will look like together and I understand that you can purchase modules with fabric collections that you can import into the design software...but I have no idea how hard this is to do.

Jennifer_TI have EQ 7 and several earlier versions. In EQ7 there is a set of tutorials that you could work through and learn all sorts of tricks. I have actually taken classes from a local computer whiz/quilter who used the downloaded tutorials as the class manual. The first few tutorials she went through I thought were a waste of time because they were so basic and I had already mastered those. But suddenly she was showing me stuff I had never ever thought possible and I was amazed. I still need to go back to the hard copies of the tutorials to read my notes so I can print out the right patterns and do the tricks. I have EQ8, but need to remove a lot of files to get enough memory available for EQ8. BTW, the company has great customer support.

Jennifer_TIf you are computer savvy (MS PowerPoint) this will be easy to pickup. The newsletters and blogs have many additional tips and techniques. There are also tutorials on YouTube. I love my EQ8 - I've designed over 10 quilts with it.
