Does anybody know of any debugging tools for this? I put my kit together last night and about half my keys don't work. I'm very experienced with soldering and I've triple-checked all the points. I have to think it's some sort of software problem, but I have no way to tell if key presses are registering or not.
I guess maybe I can check for continuity where the switches connect to the MCP23018 . . .

mattmanningI found keyboardtester.com worked for me (chrome 32)
I did have a similar issue (but I was new to soldering) - about 60% of my keys worked then I realized I did not solder all the SMD's in the correct direction - the little white "line" on the top of the SMD should face the square solder point (google images for ergodox and there are some clear examples).
After freaking out - seriously, I really freaked out ... I did research on the board and learned it actually doesn't matter which side of the board (top / bottom) you solder the SMD's. Thankfully I was able to correct my issue by correctly soldering a "second set" of SMD's on the "bottom" of the board in the right direction on my trouble keys.
I did end up using through hole diodes because I ran out of SMD's (radio shack didn't have any SMD's) - they worked just as well, again as long as they are in the right direction. As mentioned they make the acrylic alittle snug but it's nothing crazy.
It may not be the same issue - but it sounded like what I went through!
