Hi, I plan to buy the "Ergodox Kit" in full hand with Cherry MX Clear, Blank keycaps and shipping to France. The final price will be 256usd. It will become my first mechanical keyboard and the most expensive keyboard I'd ever bought. I got a few question for you guys: - May I put an AZERTY Layout ? As I am french I use "é à è ^ ¨ ù € ç" and other special keys (such as dead keys) often. I really need it but I can't make it with the layout configurator... - What about the problems you encounter during installation ? (cold solder, diode side, LEDa/c, ...) - Will this keyboard still be usable in 3 or 5 years, when OS is going to change and update ? - What is this thing about "bad acrylic case" ? Have you got pictures of your finished keyboards ? I have already seen the one of Sordna and Tim. Thank you very much, JulianFR EDIT: What about VAT for this order ?

JulianFR@JulianFR 1. You Azerty layout is done in software on you machine, You can buy any ISO layout keyboard, be it German, British or Spanish, plug it to your computer, and if you ignore the labels on the keys you will be able to type any diacritic character you want. 2. There are no problems during assembly, only sloppy assemblers :-) cold solder is something you can fix in ten minutes (including opening the case and warming up soldering iron), diode polarization requires you to be really careful about squares on PCB and lines on diodes. 3. This keyboard uses the same communication protocol as every other USB keyboard on the market these days. Will they be usable in 3-5 years? Also remember that this keyboard uses programmable micro controller, protocols can be changed, and in the worst case scenario micro controller board can be changed. 4. As they say s**t happens, acrylic case can be damaged in transport. VAT is a tough case. VAT is purely European thing, and MassDrop is US based. Therefore VAT is not MassDrop responsibility. Every thing depends on customs. Worst case scenario is: they will stop your package at the airport, and ask you to deliver them Invoice, the they will calculate import duties. Invoice price + duties will be the base to calculate VAT, then you will have to pay duties and tax to receive your package. Best case scenario (this happened to me) is, customs will treat your package as an low value package, in this case you will receive package without any duties or VAT to pay.
