I just hit the 'request' button. Hopefully there will be another run sometime soon ;-) Also I'd love to see an option to purchase fully assembled ergodox keyboard ;]
tpflugA fully assembled one would be nice, but I find I'm actually looking forward to building mine. I'm not sure if that makes me weird or just a geek.
tpflugSome background first: I'm one of the 9 people who purchased assembly service for the first round of the ErgoDox. Unfortunately, assembly didn't happen, but at least we still got the kits, only months later.

I built mine a week ago - timelapse available at
- and was surprised that the soldering was a lot easier than I had feared.

More background: Last year I bought a proper solder station for my R/C helicopters hobby, so I had the tools but not the experience (soldering big EC5 plugs to thick cables is not the same thing ;))

Anyway, the ErgoDox worked on the first try, and it's a great feeling to type on a keyboard you put together on your own. I'm currently using it at work on a trial basis - after a few weeks I'll either stick to it or go back to the Kinesis Advantage.

So all in all, no need to fear assembly, it's easier than it seems. You do need some patience and tools though. That first one took me about 5 hours, and I'm actually looking forward to building the next one (with Cherry clears this time) from round 3. :)
SiskI did not wear any gloves. :) I guess your question is about WFD's (much better) video instead, to which I linked in my video's description. I assume he was wearing gloves so as not to get finger prints on the acrylic. I did not, so mine has prints all over. ;)
