Is it time for Massdrop to start a "camping" category? 2.5 lbs....yeesh.

MichiganULI was thinking that it was surely a missclick, they must have meant to file it under "ultraheavy." :) Shelters and packs weigh about that much, less even!

FruitbatI have a question. What are the pros of these when you can get something like 360 degree stove set for half the price and half the weight? Are these more reliable or something? Backpacking newbie here, many thanks.

YuanYuCanister fuel vs alcohol - alcohol is easier to source on a long trip and can end up lighter by the end. It also takes a lot longer to boil water and can be problematic in the cold. Alcohol stoves are easily made at home out of trash, so I'd consider researching those options if you head down that rabbit hole.

FruitbatStuff like this gets more feasible after you've gone with your friend to do hiking with purposefully weighted packs. Several miles of Texas woods carrying 70 pounds on your back does a lot to improve your ultralight endurance, even when the line begins to blur.
