Hey everyone -- It's been a looooooong time coming, so thanks for your patience while we worked to finally got ESEE here on Massdrop! Based on the reception for this, I think you can expect to see more soon - we have a LOT of votes in polls for the 5, 4, and Izula particularly.
We try very hard to both 1) source the best and/or most popular products that members want, and 2) give members a really compelling value that beats every other online offer when the drop launches. We try to keep all of our members in mind, but sometimes, the prices are much more attractive to members overseas than here in the US. We appreciate you supporting the Blades community, and thank you for recognizing that some drops may be more attractive to international buyers, the same way they recognize that other drops can only be shipped to the US. These knives are generally pretty well priced in the marketplace, so it took some work to find a vendor who could supply enough for us at a cost that would allow us to give members a reasonable price. We know that our % or $ savings on this particular item - relative to the market price - is not as high as you might see for other items, but we felt it was a meaningful difference for enough members - especially those members outside the US.
Sometimes we can't always offer a super-deep discount below the lowest competitor's price, but we have so many members asking for a certain brand or product to be made available that - in this case, after multiple years of trying - we decide that enough members are just happy to see it here on Massdrop for the same, or a small amount less, that we think there is value to the community simply in making it available here at all.
We know you have choices when it comes to your blade purchases. We know that you expect we will always have the best price, and by a fair amount that includes the shipping costs. We also know that free two-day shipping is a very attractive offer if and when it's available. We're working to reduce our shipping time and cost to be more in line with other retailers, even the worlds largest. As always, I will keep working to deliver the best products at the best prices.
