OuttyninjaThat's because the designers for ESEE designed the RAT and Ontario built it for them (before they formed their own knife company)

OuttyninjaYeah, I have a RAT-1 and like clarkkent said they were the same designers. I think the RAT-1 is better after hearing all the complaints about the Avispa's lockbar and tension. I have no issues with the RAT other than it's size. Everything on it works smoothly and reliably and is comfortable to hold. Also has 4-way clip. Regarding the size, i wish the blade size to closed size was better - 3.5" blade and 5" closed is kind of big to me. Probably the biggest difference, though, is the RAT is a liner-lock with nylon scales on both sides. The Avispa is a frame-lock with G-10 scales on only one side.

black_mambaI've had a Rat in my pocket for a good few months, ever since it was on a drop here, I use it daily and it is nearly perfect in my opinion. It's just inexpensive enough that I don't mind to abuse it or let someone borrow it, but performs any task I use it for.
