Can this be mounted so it sits horizontally on a belt? It almost looks like where the screws mount is square, so maybe? Can anyone verify?

TheRascalKingI not sure. The sheath pictured doesn't look like the ambi one that came with my Izzy 2. It has a slot in one side instead of the two holes for additional mounting configurations. Great knife though. Everyone should have at least one. Wish they were offering the SS or D2 versions.

TheRascalKingMy comment is based on my esee 4 set up so take this with a grain of salt. But if you remove the clip plate the holes in the sheath can be threaded with paracord to create belt loops for scout carry (horizontal). Looking at the Izula pic seems like a similar option. For my esee 4 they also sell strap accessories if you dont like the paracord option.

TheRascalKingNot positive about the izula sheath, but if it's a larger version of the sheath for the candiru then the holes are at a slight isosceles trapezoid, not perfectly square.

TheRascalKingMy sheath is slightly different than this one being offered, but like someone else pointed out, you can use paracord to make loops to slide your belt through. Works well enough.
