m0arpheusI would say yes, this is better than an entry level guitar at a great price. It's simple no Tremolo, which can be very frustrating for a new player, hell they can be frustrating for seasoned players! LOL I can't tell you how many guitars I have bought from new players who hated the Tremolo!! The shape is good for playing while sitting which is good for someone who's starting. I find the ESP/LTD necks have a good feel easy to wrap your fingers around especially if you have short fingers not sure on the neck profile C,D,V shape. Unlike some guitars that have necks that feel like a baseball bats LTDs tend to have a nice thin neck.

johnro6659Thank you for trying to help me out dude! If you had to pick any guitar for a beginner to learn on, what would you pick and where would you buy it from? Maybe if the answer gets enough votes, Massdrop will try and swing something dope for us? ;)

m0arpheusFor a short time I actually custom built guitar under the name JRP, I do guitar repair in my spare time now as well as collecting them. I have 131 guitars including this new ESP I ordered. I let friends come over and try some so they will have a better idea what they want. When people come to me I will ask what kind of music do you want to play do you want acoustic or electric. A lot of the time kids want crazy guitars in crazy shape that are not easy to play my own kid insisted on a BC Rich Warlock he had a hard time learning on it until I let him take on of my Epiphone LPs to lessons. I can play but I don't have the patience to teach! LOL I always suggest going to a guitar store with a good selection of guitars and try out as many as you can to see what your comfortable with. It's all about personal preference. Most guitars you buy these days are pretty well made no matter where they are made. You want a guitar with a neck you can easily get your hands around, I have short fingers so skinny necks with a V or boat profile are my favorite some people like the big heavy thick necks it's again all personal preference. Stay away from Tremolo's on your first guitar. They can be the worse for a newbie tuning and setting them up properly takes a lot of experience with them. The last thing I like to say for your first guitar don't get anything too expensive at first look at the used guitars! You can score a guitar that originally cost someone 1000 bucks for a couple hundred bucks used! I can't tell you how many guitars I have bought, expensive guitars dirt cheap from people who decided that playing guitar wasn't for them. In the end you want a guitar that you can hold and play easily if you get something that does not feel comfortable you will get tired of it fast and playing can be frustrating. If you going to learn on an electric get an amp the guitar sounds good thru. I myself like a good modeling amp that has a bunch of settings and options. If you Google how to buy your first guitar you will get dozens of sites with tutorials with some good and bad info. I have yet to find one I agree 100% with. I hope all that helps if you have a specific question feel free to ask.
