the fuck kind of pricing is that for a simple key ring
Massdrop just stop, you're embarrassing yourself here. DO SOME MARKET RESEARCH!
Free Shipping on Amazon Prime: $5.75 each $9.99 for two $4.98 for five spare accessory rings $8.98 for ten spare accessory rings ... just search for “Exotac FREEKey Slim“
You can buy 2 on amazon for $10 with 2 day shipping. Wow MassDrop you really fell off huh?
zachmax
Yeah... whats up with this?
This appears to be available on Amazon for $5.89 shipped. Am I missing something here?
2 pack on amazon for 9.99 with free shipping. No minimum amount for free shipping or tax like some require. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WX9W7DY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Oof
Am I the only one missing the option to add on the quick release keychain at checkout?
PropHat
I couldn’t find it either.
Not sure where the deal is here. I just ordered it from exotac with 8 small rings total for 13.49 shipped.

I figure one for me, one for my wife, and one for the shed/garage keys. Could probably leave the shed/garage keys as the mess they are but sometimes I need just one key for a padlock or something
Think of it like sex to much is better than not enough.
This looked interesting but I just bought it on the site directly for 9.99 including shipping cost. This seems to happen for nearly all Massdrop items that happen to interest me. Someone remind me again what the point of Massdrop is other than to notify you that an item exists that you can get elsewhere for much cheaper and probably shipped to you much faster?

I'm on there now... $16.99 is for 3 systems here. That's 3 large rings and 9 small rings. I'm showing $6.49 per system on the exotac site... this is still a better deal.
joelellis
Ahh well I didn't notice this was 3 but then who needs 3 key rings? Even knowing that I still would rather buy 1 for 6.49 than 3 for 16.99. I suppose if you happen to need 3 or know 2 other people that want this it saves a few cents or something.
ok but you can get this at any hardware store for pennies if you dont insist on flat rings
You can get this for 13 shipped direct from Exotac http://www.exotac.com/freekey-system-3-pack-bundle/
Raph84
yes i see this at 6.49 on their site....http://www.exotac.com/freekey-slim-system/
ok but like you can get this exact ring from amazon for $6

Well @pwnerman I refer to the photo in this drop:

I have both this and the ones I linked to, both as good as each other. They probably came from the same factory. Cheaper ones didn't come wrapped fancy packaging tho.
MichaelAtOz
Yes the ones in the photo are off just slightly but who is honestly going to inspect your keychain? Is this really an issue? I mean you can't really care about quality control when you are linking to knock offs. I mean I seriously doubt they care about quality control when they prob make 15 cents off a single one. It prob takes them lying to customs to even make that. Also have fun waiting 2-3 months waiting for it. I would rather pay the extra few bucks, support the actual copyright owner, have recourse in case of it being defective or lost and get it within a few days (if not buying here) to get it.

If you would dare to look more attentively before commenting, you would notice that Massdrop picture precisely the item the guy Arfyness reviewing, not the original one which got good comments (pictured on Amazon). So who is counterfeiting - Amazon (I did not have any problem with Amazon yet) or Massdrop, or may be the company just dropped the standards?

This is interesting if it's the case for all of them. I have owned one for what just so happens to be 3 years (matches up with the review you linked too) and mine looks like his previous photo. My little lock symbol was off center a little bit but that never bothered me and it shouldn't bother anyone else really.
Great, simple, utilitarian ring set. What I’m surprised by is how much lighter and quieter my keys became. The squeezey aspect works as advertised, but in reality its the light, quiet, simple design that wins the day. Would order again; got an extra set and gave it to my brother.. who confirms the above as well. Effective improvement of an EDC essential.

i thinks its the FLAT design that does it. i wish they would make the smaller jump rings with the squeezee design as well. that would make it perfect. i know that the small ones really arent made to use over and over with different keys..you need to add a key or three you get another ring and swap them between the base. . but having them with the easy add design would be great.

Thanks for sharing info on rings. . Is that a skull flashlight you carry
Am I the only person who hates these things? The interesting innovation in the product is only on the large ring, which is too thick to directly fit on most keys. You're forced to attach keys to the smaller rings, which have uncomfortably sharp edges and are actually more difficult to put keys onto than regular keyrings, completely defeating the entire purpose of the product. In addition, having all the keys attached to those side rings made it so my keys wouldn't stack up well in my pocket, making them more bulky.
what's this for?? it's $7.31 for a pack of 2 on Amazon, and free shipping less than 3-5 days
These keyrings are awesome. I work in a factory that makes car parts and do a fair bit of training. This key ring has allowed me to hand out keys quickly and easily. I have had the key ring for 2 years and have not had any problems with them.
$7.85 CDN on Amazon
ColonelVonWideFoot
For 1 or 3?
IvanSpendalot
ahh... just one. thanks for pointing that out
I just bought a 2 pack of this whole system on Amazon for $10: https://tinyurl.com/y9zsl9t5
Make sure you go with the legit 3rd party seller, though. 😉
NeedMoreExpStuff
Thanks! Just bought those two. They are just over $7 now! Thanks again!
There has been debate about price, but these are amazing. I have been using a FREEKey for around four years. They withstand a lot of wear and tear, and continue to function exactly as they did when I bought them.
Bought this with with 8 small rings for 13.75 dollars on ebay including shipping to Sweden. Also no customs fees or taxes!
"1 master ring with pivot bump (per system, you get three complete systems in this buy)" So I will got 3 kit (1 master and 3 smart per kit)?
Jebbra
Yes.
ED: The prices now, as of 4/18/18, are even worse. The same kit can be had for $16.48 inc shipping at Exotac, a savings of $3.26 over MD.
My original post follows below this line. -------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry to say, this is not a good deal for US/domestic purchasers. The prices here basically match that of Exotac itself at their website: http://www.exotac.com/freekey-system-3-pack-bundle/ with some minor variation over shipping costs. Note that shipping is free at Exotac once you hit $50, and you could buy an arbitrary amount of extra packs there, instead of the extras pack choices being tied to the quantity of FREEKey Systems you buy like it is here. So if you're planning on buying in bulk, then it makes absolutely more sense to go with them. If not...well, if you're only buying one, you're literally saving only 24¢ by buying from MD. Is waiting a month or so for these to ship worth twenty-four cents to anyone? I doubt it. I guess maybe avoiding the time investment of entering your info on a new site, and some minor satisfaction from having this listed among your transactions here for easy reference later. I haven't really done the calculations to know if it makes sense to buy from Exotac if you're outside the US, but it's an open question. I urge people to try to figure it out. The product seems popular enough that it recurs often enough, and this drop in particular seems to be popular (96 sold at time of writing), so either people aren't doing the math/don't care, or there is some value proposition here, somehow.

bilditup1, As of 4/18/18 the http://www.exotac.com/freekey-system-3-pack-bundle/ is $12.98 US
GrayRaceCat
Hmm, that demolishes the deal for US buyers. With $3.50 First Class shipping - too expensive for such but wtvr - it comes to just $16.48 at Exotac's site. Here at MD, you'll pay $19.74.
> designed in Denmark, and manufactured in the USA > Designed in Sweden, Made in the USA
Which is it?
MrBear
& do they ship prototypes straight from Sweden? ;) I don't wanna pay customs on a pair of 13 dollar keyrings.
Bought for $25, UK customs charged another $14. Dangit! The most expensive key fob I've ever bought!
richtel
The exact same thing happened to me with another two drops; questionable benefit of using Massdrop in UK, it appears.
xfcvbrs
It's the same for everyone in Europe unfortunately. Massdrop is not made to give us deals, it's more like theft & usually you can find the item cheaper inside of europe/w shipping included. I only really order Massdrop exclusive items now...
I bought these from a drop over a year ago and have absolutely loved them. I use them at work in a metal stampings/assembly factory and have yet to have a single issue with them. I have it set up so that I can hand out keys easily from time to time when I need to.
Great job Massdrop! This is one of the best products for a drop if you are an EDC aficionado or like me have an assortment of pill fobs, keys, lights etc. My recommendation is to order double the accessory rings, and even a double order of everything will be be well used. Someone asked about pets, yes they work great. The Exotac also works well with Handgrey carabiners and the accessory rings work well with TECs UFO.
stevesurf
You can get ywo of the same thing on amazin for $9 and change. This is NOT a deal
Has anyone tried these out for their dogs' ID and rabies tags? Those little rings that come with them are the worst!
spinne
They work great, especially the light accessory rings.
