JeffreyKIs DX.com a reliable site? I'd never hear of it.

elderberryMe neither, was hoping that Massdrop would contact the manufacturer and see if this is a knock off, a scam or a better pricing option (if DX.com can get that price then why not massdrop.com?)

bhaighI've used DealExtreme several times in the past, and I'd say they're mostly legit in terms of what they do, although most everything they sell is a counterfeit or knockoff. If that's what you're looking for, then they have fairly cheap prices for the knockoff products, and offer free global shipping (though it usually takes ~4 weeks to ship from Hong Kong). Quality control is rather questionable on some items, so I usually ordered several duplicates of whatever I was buying, especially for things like Apple cables - at $3 apiece I could buy 5 cables and even if 3 were DOA that would still be cheaper than paying $20 for an official Apple cable.
In this case, I must assume that the ones DX is selling are knockoff products. I looked at the reviews for the orange linked above as an example. One of them essentially says "It's close enough to the real brand-name version that it will fool you at first glance." Another review mentions "There are instructions included in English from similar flint company EXOTAC."

elderberrySorry for replying 35days later, I mainly just watch mass drop emails. Yes, DX is a very reliable site to order from and their support is pretty good too. However a lot of stuff is cheap crap, just read reviews on things. Also the shipping can take forever. The great thing about DX is everything is shipped free, even if you order a $1 item and I have never been hit by duty importing to Canada. Oh and they have some pretty decent cheap flashlights by Cree.
As for this actual product. It may be a cheap knockoff but I can tell you it works great and feels well made. I have not used it in a real survival situation, but I have used it for backcountry camping with no issues.
