Are these good for ultra light backpacking or is there a lighter/better solution?

fr0z3nThese are great for ultralight backpacking. The regular polySTRIKER Fire starter weighs 0.5 oz. and lasts forever. You could even replace the supplied cord with something lighter.
For comparison: -Mini Bic lighter is 0.4 oz, and should be contained in something waterproof (like a ziplock bag) -Swedish Firesteel 2 is 1.0 oz (Scout version), similar to polySTRIKER but twice as heavy -UCO Stormproof Match Kit is 0.5oz. This is 15 strike-anywhere matches in a waterproof case.

JTP87714You won't catch Bear Grylls choosing a lighter over this. :)
