I'd rate this 4.5 stars. (+) Machining is stellar. Mine was flawless and beautifully anodized. (+) Mine has stayed full for weeks now--no fast evaporation as with Zippos. This is huge. (+) Lights every time--very reliable. (/) Compact size. Could arguably be larger for more capacity and better ergos with gloves. But the small size lends itself to pocket carry; is light but extremely well built. (/) As other have noted, it's easy to overfill and when you do it can really flame up and burn your hand. This is operator error, not a design flaw. What the reservoir holds is plenty sufficient, but I think it's human nature to get as much fluid in there as appears to fit. Follow the directions and be conservative. (-) Whereas butane lighters and wooden matches tend to burn in a tight, tall flame, this flame want to spread out a bit wider and stay low. (At least mine does--still trying to fiddle with the wick to get it how I like it.) Fine for a cigar, but arguably requires a bit more finesse when holding the lighter horizontally, as you would to light a campfire. All in all, it's efficient, exquisitely machined, and it does what it says it does. The negatives/neutrals above are minor quibbles, not dealbreakers. For my own application (bushcraft, canoe camping), I'd love to see Exotac introduce a larger size with more precise flame control. As it is, I highly recommend this one.
