A fountain pen newbie, this will be my first FC. I'm most fond of the Pilot Metropolitan and the Platinum Preppy, and less so of the Lamy Vista and Schreiber starter pens I have. Looking forward to receiving this latest addition to my collection.

JanetheWriterFC uses Bock nibs, different from the ones you have so far, so this will be a new writing experience, Coolest thing about the LOOM is that it uses the exact same nib as the Ondoro, Basic, & Emotion - all much more expensive FC pens. So if you like how the LOOM writes, you can confidently invest in the more expensive FCs, knowing that the core writing experience will be similar. (Though you are then of course only paying extra for the materials used in the body; is a little sliver of pearwood worth four times as much as the metal body Loom to you?)
The Japanese nibs are all smaller in diameter than Western (German) ones though. Pilot & Platinum nibs of the same size rating as FC will be smaller, so I hope you ordered a proper FC nib for your preference. Lamy nibs are bigger than FC (Bock), so the LOOM at least will be smaller than a Safari nib of the same rating, (It would be nice if the manufacturers just specified the size in mm instead of meaningless terms like "Medium" or "Fine" but that's the way it works. I guess they don't want you to know exactly what you're buying!

Rosebud41Thanks, Rosebud41. Good to have all this information. I generally like a "medium" nib/point that's on the heavier/bolder side, so I'm eager to check out the Bock.

Rosebud41This is different from what I've read. That is: GvFC uses Bock nibs, but FC uses JoWo nibs. Has this changed recently? Regardless, FC's nibs are indeed shared amongst their various fountain pen models, so writing experiences should be equivalent, all things being equal.

GhostwriterBock claims the FC brand as a client on their site:
http://www.peter-bock.com/company/references
They do not differentiate between GvFC or standard FC in the mention.
