Bailey2013Er, no. Unless there's some magic at checkout, it's going for $106.49 ( http://www.quill.com/faber-castell-fountain-pen/cbs/50222029.html?promoCode=400600999&Effort_Code=901&Find_Number=43275FAB&mT=0 ). Seems to me this is the better deal - and it could get even better.

LeadingEdgeI placed my order on Nov1, still waiting for it to be shipped. Check the coupon section on the website. I used a 20 off 100 bucks for office, and 20 dollar coupon via Visa Checkout. I didn't use the new member coupon, though. you have to put in coupon codes on your own. Coupons will not be automatically applied to your cart.
EDIT: order shipped, should get it next Monday or Tuesday:)

LeadingEdgeSmoked oak is $118 on this drop. How is quill.com not a better deal?

Marco888You're right! I skimmed over the extra charge for the smoked oak (which is what I want of course!) in this drops' description. quill.com is definitely the better deal.

Bailey2013Following your lead Bailey2013, I wanted an orange Ondoro fit it was sold out on massdropon. I went to Amazon. Emailed a vendor and asked if they could be competitive with the massdrop price. To my surprise, the price dropped from $140. To $89. I ordered a fine point orange Ondoro. It arrived in 3 days. The Ondoro fine writes more like an extra fine. I had to tweak the nib a bit to get it to write a bit wetter, but its a wonderful high quality pen that writes smooth as glass. If I get another, I'd like to try a medium. I'm very impressed with these pens.

Luke5403thank you for the tip, I had never thought about asking for a price match with a vendor on Amazon. Often times, people forget that behind online avatar and alias is a real person (or I hope so) and real person can be reasoned with, negotiations be made:). I have bought the wooden Ondoro with a medium nib, indeed wetter than a Fine Loom. Funny thing is that I like a F nib from the Loom better than the M nib on the Ondoro. But the good thing is that the nib units are totally interchangable. So assuming the the actual nibs go through the same manufacturing process according to their assigned sizes, you can get a M nib Loom and fit the nib units on your Ondoro. Congrats on your Ondoro. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Bailey2013Thanks for your comments. I really love my Orange Ondoro with a fine nib. I like the snap cap as opposed to the standard threaded caps. I like the way this pen fits in my hand, and mostly the way it writes, first time every time. By and large Massdrop pricing is pretty good. On occasion I have been critical of Massdrop pricing when it has been out of line with the market. What we just found out, is that it's good for Amazon and eBay vendors to be notified when their prices are out of line also. I think it brings back into play, the concept of fair competition. It benefits us all, vendor and buyer alike. ..lol...sorry to sound so serious. 😊

Luke5403I definitely share your thoughts on FC Ondoro. I would recommend FC Loom to new fountain pen users who's willing to catch the fountain pen bug:) My wooden Ondoro is my daily writer and makes me smile inside whenever I pick it up. Once an electronics enthusiast, I increasingly find myself ditching my smartphone and reaching for my pen. Writing long-hand on paper is a mesmerizing experience, one only fountain pen lover can attest to. I agree that fountain pen is a niche market but it is to the benefits of us all that the vendors/manufactures make an effort to broaden the appeal of their pens by offering a deal once in a while.
