This is a small whetstone. It would be perfect for travelling, hiking, camping, and anything outdoorsy. You can use it anywhere of course, but feels like it would be more fitting in these situations. Due to the size, I would be careful/mindful when using. If your purpose is for it to be small and portable without adding weight this is a wondeful addition.
I have seen in awhile. It does the job as good as others used on a workbench with a grinder. Great tool like it and recommend it to anyone who sharpens their blades. A plus its portable.
honestly this is much to small to properly use in any reasonable way. I have many sharpening stones and this one just doesn't compare. This also doesn't have a fine enough grain to get a nice edge on any knife so it is not a stone that will work without having other stones.
Can't say I'm an expert at knife sharpening, but this is a handy little stone. It's big enough to be usable as a beginner, and small enough to take along on a trip. I'm not sure I'd want a stone smaller than this.
Gold side (diamond) for major edge work / grey (ceramic) side for sharpening and backside of leather pouch for final stropping.
I found this tutorial very helpful and I “mounted” mine on a scrap of 2x4 - works great!!!
