They were a great deal too, until they got famous. Now you can get a custom American made knife for less.

PACougActually these knives are amazing and great. The edge retention is really great for the price. The f1 and A11 and the pro versions have exceeded the price threshold. They see good knives but not great for the new higher prices. Also they are just vg10... But let's be honest vg10 is from Japan and has a fluctuating yen which may effect prices... But I doubt that. They could also make them in better steel but it's stainless and easy to sharpen.

anonomousI never said they weren't great. Just that they leveraged their justified fame by jacking up their prices into the stratosphere. I still love my Fallkniven knives.
With respect to VG-10: I have had nothing but good luck with it. It is more prone to breakage and chipping than some other steels at its level of hardness and edge retention but you take that into account when you use the knife. My VG-10 blades are the sharpest ones I have. They take a fine razor polish after two strop grits and and do amazing knife tricks after that.
I won't bag on a company for using VG-10 because it's actually one of my favorite knife steels regardless of price. Dollar for dollar it has very little competition, although Kershaw has adopted a new standard inexpensive steel that is amazing relative to its price. If they go and build a big thick monster survival knife out of that new steel of theirs, its performance/price Q shou be outstanding.

anonomousThe TK3 knife here is not VG-10. This knife uses 3G steel. The 3G steel is much harder and holds it's edge for a lot longer than VG-10. I agree that the prices have skyrocketed over the last 10 years or so, but this particular steel is without peers. I had a Red Quince Burl version of this knife that was stolen, and I replaced it with a Mother Of Pearl scaled version that has bragging rights it is so magnificent with it's good looks and excellent functionality of the 3G steel. I got mine from Craigslist, as I couldn't afford the $350 asking price, but it is worth it's asking price just for the sheer beauty of the scales. It has it's own exquisite character.
