I bought a set of Fanmusic C6 cables for the HD 6xx with the 4-pin XLR, but not from Massdrop. I dislike the cable so much that I believe I may have gotten a fake. The connectors look cheap, and the the workmanship can only be described as "poor". The worst part, however, are the cables themselves. The cloth covering feels cheap. The flexibility is not even smooth and consistent. The weave is so obviously loose and uneven that the cables kind of creep me out just to look at them. They have been put in the back of my cabinet, alongside the pads taken off uncomfortable headphones. I can't even tell you how they sound, as I've never invested the time to try them. For very nearly the same price, I ordered a set of the Periapt cables recommended by Zeos Panterra (Z Reviews), who is the beta tester for new Periapt products. I haven't received them yet, but although not fancy at all, they appear to be of much higher quality that the cables in this drop. I have never written anything so negative in a Massdrop discussion. I bought my cables on eBay, so I am serious about maybe getting a fake. Please take my comments with that in mind.

HollowStateWell even in the pictures the cloth looks rough, and the thinner left and right portions of the cable after the Y split look plastic-y and really thin. They also don't show the Y split in the pictures very well, I assume it's just shrink tube... these factors alone point to a cheap-ish cable. Neutrik connectors are a meme at this point (cheap and used by every custom cable maker, they are good though). Not much else to say. I'd recommend making your own, just get that soldering iron and some supplies it's easy and fun. Just use good ventilation or do it outside to preserve your health.

UzuzuThat's an idea. I should probably try that. Thank you.

FuckHead-FiGot it! You can't hear the difference between a good cable and a poor cable. Or, maybe you meant that inanimate objects like a trumpet don't have a sound. I know! I know! You don't believe in microphonics in cables. On the other hand, I don't care what you meant.

HollowStateCables can definitely change the sound. On a very basic level, the impedance and capacitance of cables affect the sound transmission.

UzuzuCare to point one in the right direction in order to find different cable options for making it custom?
I tried Redco and either I have no idea how else to find it, but all they seem to have is a Mogami Y-cable that's typically actually used for RCA (possibly video) connections. I'm not sure it's a very good cable for audio...

BiffsBizthe impedance of any audio cable does not change how the sound will come out, unless the impedence is 20000 OHMS because the cable is made out of copper and DIRT.

Typhoon859literally any type of audio cable will work make sure you are happy with the gauge. I wouldn't worry about resistances it won't make a difference like some claim, unless it's an insane amount, which it won't be if you're buying "audio cabling." So good luck.
