Anyone know if the inverse if this exists for like a USB DAC? XD
I would love to see the reverse of this. SPDIF to USB.

Does this work for the Iphone 7?
MxZeal
My knee-jerk reply was no, but now I'm wondering if it would work with a Camera Connection Kit (for the USB port). I suppose it is possible, especially if you have the recent USB 3 version that also has an extra lightning port for power.
Edit: I have the USB3 CCK myself, so far I've successfully used it with a Blue Snowball microphone and a Fostex HP-A4 (DAC/amp with its own power supply).
Cute how they pair it with a Macbook in the photos. A computer which already offers bitperfect SPDIF via optical TOSLINK.
Why exactly would you need this? Dumb question, I'm sure but don't see the purpose of this... Please clarify
Robson
It depends on your setup, namely if you have a USB input available. Home Theater receivers tend to have SPDIF in more often than USB, for example.
I can understand this not offering high res support but it looks like it's locked to 16bit as well. A lot of 48khz content is 24 bit and this thing doesn't appear to handle that. For those seeking more flexibility I would pickup a SMSL X-USB. I got mine for $72 and it's been doing a fantastic job. I got it because my DAC doesn't support 192/24khz via usb but it does via coax/optical. I wasn't expecting a SQ improvement but I think the frequency extremes have gotten a little clearer/tighter.

Hey, do you have any clue if that SMSL X-USB supports DTS/AC3 passthrough?
id buy it if it was optical / toslink
If I have a MacBook Pro like in the photo, it has an HDMI port, so why would I even this?
NedB
Well, if you specifically need coaxial for a particular reason (perhaps your DAC or receiver's optical port is being taken up by another device already), then boom? Though you could always run optical out from the Macbook Pro into a optical to coaxial converter, I guess!
would this be sufficient for feeding audio into my SMSL SD-793II?
