I just did my first shave with this razor, and I am amazed at what a great shave it gives. It gives a super close shave with zero irritation. I had about a weeks worth of growth, and it did a great job in two passes.
I already use feather blades, so it's the design of the head that makes this razor shave the way it does. It almost felt like I had shaved against the grain it was that close.
I have read reviews noting that the shaving angle is a little different with this razor. I didn't notice a drastic difference in the shaving angle, but I did try to make sure I was getting good contact with the whiskers.
I've wanted this razor for a long time. I'm glad I finally spent the money and got one. I am very happy with it.

StevenKWI'm coming from an Edwin Jagger and I haven't been able to pull off as close of a shave yet. I'm still trying to get the angle right with this razor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

StevenKWI am also coming from and Edwin Jagger.
I put the razor at the normal angle and then tilt the handle a little more away from my face. With a sharp blade and a good angle, you should feel and hear the razor shaving hair.
Usually, you let the weight of the razor do the work, but I find that adding more pressure does the trick.
It seems to handle more like a standard double or triple blade cartridge razor in that it requires more angle and more pressure.

M_at_oNot just the angle but the substance you're using on your face. Old dudes like me have been shaving with DE razors all our lives and since DE has exploded....again....shaving accessory manufactures have been producing crap cream for big bucks and big profits. The VERY BEST stuff to use on your face is Shakai bath gel. You can either lather it up in a cup or directly on your beard. It will give you the closest most comfortable shave of your life. A 12oz. bottle is about $10. I've tried the $80 imported crap and all they do is empty your wallet and give you a shit shave. Don't fall for their BS. All you want is the closest shave and you'll also get a well conditioned face after you rinse it off. DE shavers can be VERY forgiving if they can glide easily over your face. Trust me and save your $.

StevenKWThis full stainless steel will last a lifetime compared to Edwin Jagger which uses pot metal zemak head which will start to corrode when the chrome started to wear off. I gave the Feather AS-D1 and I really love the shave out of it. Using with Feather Hi-Stainless blades, Proraso Pre-shave cream, MWF shaving soap and a Muhle Silvertip fiber synthetic brush.

M_at_oI usually apply the safety bar gently to the face then raise the handle up towards the 'normal' 30 degree razors of other razes and go a little more - it's about a 45 degree angle for this razor. It gives the smoothest shave and is very gently doing so with the feather razors which I can't use in other razors but with this razor works great. For me it has worked best to do the safety bar to skin first then raise handle to 45 degree technique.

ACA1Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm not sure I'm hitting the right angle yet as I'm not getting as close of a shave as with my other razors. However, I do enjoy the fact that I seem to cut myself less frequently and can be more careless in my passes without cuts. My experience with the Feather blades matches yours.
