What is the intended use of this knife at this price? I absolutely intend no disrespect.

AY1286The price likely comes from the Les George collaboration and limited run.
It'll certainly take a beating, and that steel holds one hell of an edge. It can be a fighting knife or just plain EDC, but the above 2 are what adds $200-300 to the price., as it's a collectable.

RadiopejYep, that's about right. A wharncliffe of this size will be a very handy utility, edc blade. It will do most tasks well (except skinning). Because of the pointiness and blade thickness, it will also make a very effective self defense blade.
As for the price, you can get something with as good materials and tolerances for around $300 (one of the high-quality chinese manufacturers). The extra you are paying is because it's Ferrum Forge - small batch, US made, and I'm guessing they'll stand behind the product. The Hoback rolling detente is a nice feature you won't see on any cheaper knives as well, but conversely most knives in the $300+ price range these days have milled titanium clips. These high end details don't add much to junction, though.

SlingFWIW, in terms of manufacturing quality, I'd say this is a much better deal than a Hinderer.

AY1286 I have two Ferrum Forge knives and I plan on getting more. Everything about them is perfect and speaks to my particular tastes in higher end, not fully custom, knives. The fit, the finish, the attention to detail, the custom service, etc. all make these knives worth what they are asking for them. I understand if not everyone see this fact, I never did until I held one in my hand!
