I've been tempted to pick up the AKG x Massdrop K7XX Headphones and realise that ideally you should be picking up an amplifier as well to get the most out of the hp's. Would this device suffice for those particular headphones or am I better off looking at a different amp?
This isn't something I'm particularly knowledgeable over, so any advise is appreciated!

aetheistI had an E10K paired with my bassport modded AKG Q701's which should be very similar to the K7XX and I hated the pairing, it sounded sterile and closed in (really killed the music). I disliked the E10k with most of my headphones as its competition is much better sounding. The SMS SD793-ii is a much better sounding dac/amp and will drive the K7XX easily. The fulla 2 should also be a good option but I haven't heard it myself. Spending a bit more and there is the Schiit modi paired with a vali/modi and there is also the odac with the O2 (I have had all these but sold them when I needed the money). As can be seen I don't recommend the E10K, I was happy to get rid of it.

aetheistAs a note, if you're considering the SMSL it doesn't have usb, I use it through optical, the other options I mentioned all have usb. I hope you enjoy those headphones :) (If you pick them up that is)

J.J.CThe K1 is a great option IMHO. I bought a Fulla 2 and I am disappointed, after reading some mixed reviews I myself have problems with the music having constant popping/cracking noises.

Jimster480It's disappointing to hear the Fulla 2 has those issues. The K1 does look mighty interesting! I might give it a go as I've been looking for a cheap portable solution :)

J.J.CIts a great little device, the only downside is that your computer will never go to screensaver (or sleep) while its plugged in. This is only tested on windows though, but if you don't care about that or you just turn off your monitor (on a desktop) or just unplug the device then its fine. It sounds great overall and I've had no issues other than that with it in the month or so that I've had it. If you check the reviews on amazon too there are no reports of failures, which is also a good thing!

Jimster480I have quite a few dacs and amps for my desktop, was considering the K1 with my phone as a portable solution, do you know if there are any compatibility issues the K1 possibly has with android?

J.J.CNope it works fine with OTG depending on if your phone can use external DAC's. Thats really where the compatibility problems arise, but they don't have anything to do with the K1 itself.
I tried it on both my HTC 10 and my iPod touch 6G and it works fine!
Just remember that it runs off the battery though so battery life of your device will be reduced.
Jimster480The computer should be able to be configured to allow sleep or screensaver while the E10k is plugged in. Probably in Device Manager or Power settings or something.

Valensilius_ZephyrusYep as others have said the problem doesn't pertain to the E10K, its just a K1 issue.
