Apparently Massdrop is reselling these FiiO products without authorisation from the manufacturer. Here's what a FiiO distributor wrote to resellers; posted by @InnerSanctumNYC on the X5 drop:
"It has come to our attention that Massdrop.com is again advertising for sale FiiO products at below MAP prices. Massdrop is not an authorized reseller and their advertised discounts are not approved by FiiO. In the past when this occurred, FiiO has investigated and found the inventory source, and promptly eliminated the inventory leakage. This email is a courtesy reminder to all FiiO's authorized resellers to not sell FiiO products in bulk to unauthorized resellers like Massdrop. Doing so will result in immediate loss of authorized status. FiiO makes every effort to build a healthy marketplace for the benefit for their authorized resellers like you. Your efforts and cooperation in adhering to FiiO's reseller policies will contribute to our mutual success."

Companies like FiiO are trying to keep prices artificially high when they can be sold for cheaper. Greedy companies who collude with all their retail and selling agents. This is non-competitive or anti-competitive policy and is anhorrent, disgusting and repugnant. They go around threatening the people who sell their products that if they don't sell it for X amount of dollars, "we'll never supply you again".
Makes me sick to the core. I for one am staying away from FiiO - there are so many other companies that make great amp/DACs around like Schiit who are much better.

ProgressiveIceThis statement give me an even greater desire to purchase this item from Massdrop rather than "authorized" channels.

GrimmJwIf true, I agree with you that FiiO's overcontrolling price policy on "authorized resellers" is somewhat anti-competitive. Unfortunately they're not the only company that does this; not that that makes it right.
In this case with MassDrop, you'd actually want to buy if the E10K seems right for your needs (and you're patient and find the discount worthwhile), since MD is repping a free, competitive market more acceptably. Outside of this case, the FiiO policy bothers me as well.
