I've been milking my IPod Classic for all she's worth and pair it with a Fiio E12 to power my high ohm Sennheisers. The question is.... will this power high ohm headphones and produce good sound without the need for an external amp? Thanks!

AndroidkneeIt powers my Fostex MK3 to a decent level so probably. What Sennheiser's tho? Impedance isn't the only factor in guesstimating power.

AndroidkneeFactually correct, it's a sizable difference. But it will "power them"....Just depends on how much you're willing to sacrifice.

AndroidkneeDo some heavy research on the 800s before purchase sir, heard rumors they need quite a bit of EQ to sound right. I know cans are subjective to the listener, try to find a store that will allow you to test them. Betting there are a few members here packing the 800s, anyone care to offer their experience with the SS.
