My FiiO X5 1st generation used for the second time yesterday does not connect to the computer via USB. This bug has been reported on several forums by other owners.
From my communications FiiO is aware of this problem. I believe FiiO should have taken responsibility and replaced those devices affected and reported to them. It's not acceptable that a customer having this problem and who has spent money has no choice but to use a work around because the device does not to do what it's supposed to do and that is attach to the PC via USB for storage or DAC !
FiiO referred to Massdrop as an unauthorised vendor. To quote FiiO "Massdrop is not our authorized dealer".
From my perspective not good enough. The overall experience is not wholistic and good for me. I for one will not buy FiiO products again and will not be recommending them.

My unit arrived defective. The right Micro SD slot is messed up and ate my 64gb card, subsequently destroying it upon removal. Already out $30 and I have to get this replaced.

heliosphannI hear you. Right slot on mine was D.O.L.. Luckily I can hold the chip in place with the rubber slot cover. A least I have a second slot available

Thanks again for joining the drop with the community. We submitted the group’s order with the vendor for the FiiO X5 Audiophile Music Player shortly after the drop ended and they have begun preparing it for shipment.
Once the group’s order is ready at the vendor’s location, they will send the bulk shipment to our fulfillment center where we’ll break it up into individual orders and ship them off to you as soon as possible.
The moment we receive confirmation regarding the shipping schedule from the vendor, we will provide you guys with updated information on the status of your package.

gadgetzillaFrom what I read:
The device itself is good and is comparable with other DAP in the price range and even more expensive ones. Seems to be better with vocal stuff but not as strong with instrumental compared to rivals.
The battery life is ok, not great
The battery is not replaceable by normal means.
The wheel is a bit hard to use, like the original iPods.
