Clay pomade
The clay pomade is pretty for providing a tight hold, but without looking greasy or blocky. I usually apply wet, right after the shower.

the clay pomade smells really good because of the ingrediants. It does not have a stiff hold or set. This allows me to redo and reshape my wavy hair. My palms feel strangly smooth and nice smelling after washing and applying

This hair clay has a medium-soft consistency. It’s not fluid like a gel but it’s nowhere near solid like a bar of soap. I find it very workable without being too thin and I’d describe the hold as a medium hold. It does not set stiff, and is re-workable for hours.

I style my hair every day and typically apply to dry hair. I have thin hair and use paste/clay to add the extra volume. Firsthand Styling Clay is OK. It's a medium to low hold with no shine. My biggest compliant is that even after smoothing between my hands, I end with clumps and residue in my hair. It is difficult to apply evenly, as well, and I end up with "fly aways" (random hairs or clumps of hair that stick out). For the price, it's hard for me to recommend this product. I've had better luck with both American Crew fiber and Axe paste.
The smell and feel is really nice, though.
RufusHey Rufus,
Sorry you didn't have an awesome experience with it. Curious about the clumps/residue in your hair, I havn't heard of anyone having that happen, We can gladly send you a replacement jar if there were any issues with the one you have.
Thanks -Filipe I

I was looking for a good alternative to Baxter Clay Pomade because Baxter is so expensive here in Japan and it is so difficult to wash off your hands. After trying so many others from Imperial to Teddy Boy to Suavecito to O’Doud’s (and so on) this is the only one I’ve bought more than once. And at the moment what I’m using and plan to buy again. It’s not Baxter but good enough. For application, I completely agree with david.zamora comments below. It’s definitely worth trying.

This Firsthand pomade is pretty good. The odor is really pleasant, which is the best thing going for it, IMO. The pomade is pretty dry and you'll need to apply it wet to get it to the roots, if that's your style. Also, it drys pretty quickly, so be sure to work quick on your style before having to re-wet any unfinished areas. The best way to use it that I have found is to apply it directly to your semi wet hair, straight out of the shower, and work quickly with your brush/comb. If you want to sculpt more aggressively, blow dryer and hairspray are your friends. I use this pomade over my other brands mainly because of the pleasant light odor. The other pomades leave stronger, not so pleasant smells that bother me throughout the day.
david.zamoraHey David,
I would definitely advise on applying the Pomade to damp hair, its a strong product with a good amount of wax content, if applied to dry hair is would use a very small amount to achieve looser more textured looks.
