KahlessGrease pencils may have been used, but no one, EVER used a pencil. That would really, really bad. Graphite is a conductor, and stuff just floats around until it gets trapped in a filter, or finds something to short out (at which point, it floats in smaller pieces). And these were developed privately, no government paid for their development, though many have been customers.
I have a clicky type one with a pocket clip, and a rite-in-rain notebook. These are great for everything my fountain pens are not great for.
