I would expect something called a Yachtsman to have better than 50m WR.

MaltmanI was thinking the same thing initially, but they could lie and say it was 100m resistant like many other makers do. Without a screw down crown, I wouldn't really expect a watch to have dependable 100m resistance.
This watch has so many features going for it (movement that is usually in much higher $$$ watches, power reserve etc). If it had a more recognizable maker it would be flying off the shelves.

MaltmanI agree. You'd never catch me anywhere near a body of water with this thing sporting just 50m WR. This watch would be far better served being called something other than 'Yachtsman'. I am not in agreement with Massdrop's salespitch on the asthetic being 'nautical'. I just don't see it.

MaltmanYea my Fiyta photographer doesn't seem to have anything to do with photography. I think they might just be using whatever english words they can find

MaltmanMe too, but it's in keeping with other 'yacht' related watches I've seen, at least some I have looked at with this theme have also had 50m ratings. If it's a true 50m, then should be no problem!

Cdn519What do you expect a pop up flash? The circles in the photography line are meant to resemble shutters, you don't need an advanced command of the english language to understand that

BBJonesPlenty of watches with 100m and no screw down crown. The threads aren't what gives water resistance, that is down to case design and seals. I think the complications on this watch are all pointless. Power reserve will always show full if you wear it all the time, or empty if you aren't wearing often. What's the point? Pointer dials for day and or date just mean unnecessary dial clutter, stupid little date circle at 4 is obnoxious, 24hr hand screams fake dual time, fake turbillion. Again. What is the point? Stuck in a cave for 72 hours or what? Nice movement wasted on tarted up design.

GhostwriterSo, the>$200 watch is too precious to risk what? An impromptu snorkle session? 50m should be plenty as long as you aren't doing vigorous underwater activity for a couple hirs at a time. People really stress out about wr ratings. Sheesh how did any watch survive before wr? New watch every time it rains I duppose.

Glen8You think they look like shutters? I don't get it. Shutters typically are curtains so doesn't make sense. Maybe you mean they could be construed as a lens diaphragm, but they don't look like that either. Maybe they think all the circle cutots look like various lenses. I am not sure. But then what is the basket weave represent? I am going with choose an aspirational English word and stick it on there, no time for true design inspiration. They are just lucky they didn't misspell the names.

Erik1Water resistance ratings are set by placing the watch in a pressure chamber filled with water - that water isn't moving, nor is the watch. It's a static test, which does not compare to the stresses of swimming or snorkeling. According to the majority of the web sources I've read, subjecting a 50m water resistance rated watch to these activities isn't recommended. At the very least I'd call it a 'gamble'. >$200 watch is too precious to risk what? I don't know your situation, but $200 is precious enuf to my wallet to restrict my use of sub-100m wr watches to non-watersport related activities. It does not mean I can't wear them in the rain, or otherwise splash water on them occasionally.
