Am back for my second pair. What I like about them -- their swing weight (moment of inertia) is very low, so they feel quite comfortable and effortless in use. The current version of the carbon fiber poles I was using - which I've broken twice - have been redesigned to have stronger bottom sections (worst place to have weight in terms of swing feel), and no longer light in the hand. The supplied rubber tips feel like they'll really stay on, and last a while. The supplied baskets are probably too small for snow, though better than nothing, but will be great for talus. The height adjustment feels very free and positive, though time will tell how it stands up to use and grit. Of tents/ tarps I'm familiar with, their length is fine for use as tent poles with all the ZPacks tents except the Altaplex, for the MLD Solomid but not the Duomid (unless one uses a pole extender), the Sierra Designs Tensegrity series -- quite a range of serious light weight shelters. Would love to be able to order extra rubber tips. Any ideas where one could do that?

swimjayI was looking for larger snow baskets and it looks like easiest thing to do is to just order a 3rd party-made on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=walking+pole+rubber+tips&sprefix=walking+pole+rubber+tips%2Caps%2C209
