Be advised: Focal headphones are prone to breaking at the hinge. The hinge consists of a ball in a sleeve and the sleeve on the outside of the ball (inside of hinge) is made of a hard plastic to hold it in place. That plastic, through repeated use of stretching the headphones to open them and put them around your head to cover your ears, will crack over time and eventually break.

FairDinkumI've owned two and recently viewed their line and it's engineered the same. The flaw is in the design and I don't believe that even a different plastic would fix the inherent problem.
As for sound, I love the Focals. After my second set, I decided I'm not a big enough fan because when those spider cracks start you get a weird feeling in your stomach because your money grew wings.
I'm reluctant to buy an yet closed back because most people post their initial impressions and have no long term experience with them yet.
Those that do often work in a professional environment where they don't have to actually pay for their headphones so they have little motivation to post how the headphone held up over time.
These are my opinions based on my experience and I am neither a professional nor an employee of any company related to the industry yet I believe when companies listen to actuall paying customers and make modifications to their product everybody wins.

WorxformeI contacted Focal Customer Support by email a while ago asking about a driver quality control issue of the Spirit One mentioned by Innerfidelity review and got a response from a sales service person who said "We're very proud of the Focal Spirit One headphones and believe you will enjoy them a great deal for many years to come." Yeah right, but he never addressed my concerns.
Speaking of the hinge breaking, Pioneer HDJ 1500 had the same problem. One of the hinges broke after 9 months of casual use. Pioneer do sell the replacement part (they call it the End Tab). But it costs about $45 each plus shipping,. Really? $45 for a small piece of plastic? No thank you. I would never buy another Pioneer product.
I was very interested in the Spirit One S but after that email from their customer service and reading about the hinge problem. I guess I would stay clear of this product.
