Here's a nice summary of the differences between the Saffire and Scarlett lines. https://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/community/entries/focusrite-scarlett-vs-saffire-interfaces
Basically: This one has the advantage of being bus powered (no DC power supply necessary), while you get an extra headphone out with its own volume pot with the Scarlett 6i6 that is also on Massdrop for the same price.
Far as I can tell, convertors and mic pres are the same.
Massdrop does have the USB version (which IMO, also looks like the front panel has been better thought out): https://www.massdrop.com/buy/focusrite-6i6-audio-interface
Under Details and Features: "The Saffire Pro features Focusrite preamps for low noise and distortion, Tunderbolt " - I assume that would be ThunderBolt, and not Tunderbolt.
Strongly considering this. I use a SSL Alpha Channel mic pre that has S/PDIF out so I can use the converter in that, which I assume to be better than the Saphire's. Plus MIDI I/O is a must for my keyboard.
Personally, I like 'legacy' gear. I think you get better value that way.
Eh, want it, but can't justify buying a $200 Firewire box.
Who the hell still using Firewire today ?
Nice to see this on here, I've been using the Saffire Pro 14 for 2 years now, works efficiently for the most minimal of setups. Definitely recommend if you don't have a thunderbolt capable machine.
Any chance of seeing actual thunderbolt interfaces on here instead of spending 200$ on a trip to deprecation central?

They announced a new Thunderbolt range earlier this year: http://us.focusrite.com/clarett-range
Don't think we'll be seeing it on here anytime soon though.
