It seems that the short spin time has to do with the tapered spindle that provides a less than ideal gripping surface for your fingers. And also how most of the mass seems concentrated near the center axis rather than further out towards the rim.
Still, this is a cool, iconic design. That's worth something. At least to some people.
Wasn't this the top featured in the movie "Inception"?
Last night I spun my top and it's still spinning some hours later. What does it mean?
