I absolutely love these. I use my Fiio Mont Blanc E12 Amp along with ViPER 4 Windows for the great dynamic bass head eq. But, i have encountered a problem. I noticed a white dot on the ear cup, and a little scuff on the lacquer of the can. Can someone explain why there is a white dot on the cans? It appears to be more than just a scratch.
Thanks.
ShahzadKhanDid they come like that? If not, it's just bad luck. The cups are quite delicate, you have to be careful with them. Got a small dent on my old mahogany pair which I was careful with.
ShahzadKhanIf the scrape is not deep enough to get through the lacquer it would appear white; it's common to see a bunch of white scrapes on old furniture even though underneath it's wood. If you buffed it out and reduced the micro rough edges it would soften the white closer to the color of the wood -- realistically making it a 'transparent' surface again.
KazI was letting my friend listen to them. I thin her nail accidentally scratched it when she took them off. What should I do to help the scratch go away? Also, it looks like a white dot, and it is deep.
ShahzadKhanDoubt it was your friends nail. I have a pair here in the office and I just tired to scratch it pretty hard with my nail and it didn't do anything. But never the less... it's hard for me to give much advice without seeing it. If it does bother you a lot your best option would be to stop by a local woodworkers/carpenters shop and have him take a look at it (maybe ~$20) and they might be able to buff it out or re-lacquer it. If you have not done something like that before it's easy to do more damage then good.
ShahzadKhanPeople use walnuts on their hardwood floors. They arent purple though... but it may work. Hardware store has different colored hardwood crayons, that may be best bet. A carpenter could buff out and re-laquer but if the wood color below the surface is different, you'll be in the same situation but probably worse. I suppose it wouldnt hurt to ask their opinion.
