Hey All :)
Wondering if that lush purple colour is with all Fostex THX00 Purple Heartsz?
I know grain can be slightly different, just want to make sure I get that stunning Purple colour.
Any one? Not sure a light Purple Heart would look OK? Thanks for any info! :)

MusicFuelsYourSoulall wood will have color variation in the end. you can't handpick your perfect tint so I wouldn't worry about it. different lighting will affect how you perceive it

MusicFuelsYourSoulHi, well from what I've seen, it's mostly a darker shade of purple in real life (mine are really dark lol, loving it), almost like a wine color. The bright, almsot reddish color, which is displayed on the screens is caused by the intense flash of the lights in the room that it was taken in (plus some photoshop magic imo).

This is a more realistic color. I personally love it, it looks very subtle and elegant, not so "in your face" as the brighter red/purple would be.
EDIT: The lush purple color is only when sunlight shines directly on the cups, and since these aren't really portable, that won't be happening much :)
CamperIVNow that is a perfect colour, far better than the professional shots.... I. Could see a slight redness in them and I am just a tad jealous yours are stunning! I should come back to you CamperIV with my Purple Hearts.
Really appreciate you coming back to me. I can say that the colour you have is by far the most delightful so far!
Cheers. :)

MusicFuelsYourSoulThank you! I am excited to see how yours are going to look. It's always a joy to share my excitement for special headphones with others, and these definitely qualify as special for me. I have modded them slightly to increase comfort and started knitting a nice more protective carrying bag for those ;)
I can post pics soon enough if you're interested.
CamperIVTip top my friend!
I will come back to this thread and fingers crossed photos of my Purple Heart cups. They will be hopefully as filthy sexy as possible! Although I have a bad feeling. :(
Do let me know what extras you have procured. Am thinking of putting mine in a case in its leather pouch lol.

MusicFuelsYourSoulHey again, so I snapped a few pictures of the modifications that I've done to my Purplehearts :) I was really not satisfied with comfort with those stock pads, so I decided to purchase some HM5 Sheepskin memory foam pads from Brainwavz, the comfort was amazing right when I tried them because they create a seal around my ears and don't put too much pressure on my head like the stock ones do. Plus they are made out of real leather unlike the stock ones. Pics below:

It was awesome because these pads really helped to give you a much better soundstage and made the sound a little warmer, which I liked... however these new pads decreased the low end a bit so I found out that the stock pads had a plastic attenuation ring which was affecting the low end, I decided to re-create it from various materials and put it in those pads:

I tried many things but settled on a polystyrene oval shape (cut out from a food box :p) The sound was a bit too muddy in the highs however by cutting it half I finally got the desired results, bring back the low end and keep the mids and highs crystal clear, plus a wider soundstage thanks to thicker angled pads.
Also few days ago I manually crafted and quilted a headband to fit the X00s perfectly (the DT990Pro headband didn't fit it at all), with a soft foam padding and buttons on top so you can remove it and wash it. I must say I am very happy with the results, veery soft on the head and helps to support the weight of those wider angled pads. Pics:

I believe the last finishing touch should be a removable cable mod, but I will think twice about it since there are almost no materials for it here where I live so I can't even buy what I need, let alone do the mod. I hope this long post was entertaining atleast and have a nice day :) -Camper
CamperIVAloha Amigo! I appreciate it, I really do. I even went onto your profile to ‘follow you’ due to your genuinely kind, funny and informative posts. Anything that furthers someone else in a positive way should be recognised and appreciated for what it is Camper :)
Have heard from several sources be it people, review or YouTube and the saying the THX00 PH are not shy in to date in the bass department and seems to be the most Bass friendly (Also a HUGE bonus). I love music, all music, some more than others, but I remain with a fully open mind to any new music I listen to. How few things make me smile as much as when I listen to music. Music affects us in so many ways. Feeling for me is a big one as I tend to play to how I feel, or how I should be feeling LOL. With this slight bass availability, my daily work fodder is typically upbeat EDM, Breaks, Drum & Bass with vocals is on a whole new level, the same for Dubstep. Club, House, Trance…You get the idea. So, if the PH really do have a bump in bass but and it is a big BUT, not at the cost of any other part which is so hard to do.
As I am based in the UK, it can be a little difficult at times to get what people have, such as the ear cushions although on Amazon I found Brainwavz and they have Sheepskin Memory Foam Ear Cushions for Overear. Do they look the same my friend? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brainwavz-Sheepskin-Memory-Foam-Earpad/dp/B01J53KM32 I sincerely must say that the head band you made is EPIC! Black all the way.... The fact you have thought ahead about giving a clean now and then is tip top! I mean it that when I take delivery of my PH I may need to request, very, very politely for a Camper Head Band upgrade..Maybe some polystyrene cutouts to get the balance right with the better fitting pads if that honour may be bestowed upon me sometime soon.
Much Appreciated >o:)

MusicFuelsYourSoulHaha awesome, thank you for the kind words, I totally agree with your opinion about music. I don't consider myself as an audiophile but rather just a passionate music listener and I really enjoy all genres there are, Drum&Bass used to be my favorite for a long time, that's why the Purplehearts are very special to me, they pull off all the genres so well, from vocal to bass heavy to instrumentals, I am very addicted to listening to music since I got them! That's why I needed excellent comfort, I am easily able to wear them for more than 10 hours day haha (work, home, etc).
About the cushions, I am from Czech Republic and I actually ordered a pair of those Brainwavz from the UK Amazon which you linked me. Except that you linked a flat pair of cushions and mine are angled, so careful with that. Flat would change the sound in a different way than the angled ones, tho it's a super minor change but I haven't tested them yet :) Here are the ones that I have: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brainwavz-Sheepskin-Leather-Angled-Memory/dp/B01J53WTUQ/
And thanks for the head band compliments, I'm glad you like it! You're gonna see for yourself once you get the cushions. And hey, we can get in touch if you're interested in the headband, we're both from EU so shipping should be easy :) However I might want to experiment with different materials for the headband first, perhaps a real leather would be more fitting, I'll see. Though, the materials that I've used now are extremely comfy already and do the job really well.
CamperIVAre you there right now? Send you a generic email buddy :) We just have to be quick :P I can swiftly

Big thumbs up for Czech Rep....Easy in the top Euro countries and I would know!! Will reply to your last message when operation email is a success!!
I think that works LOL?! >:o)
GO GO GO GO GO GO :P
CamperIVGreat to connect my friend! :)
Thank you very much for sending through the angled ones. I did see an angled version, but just memory foam, not sheepskin so very glad you picked up on that for me and even went to the effort of linking the right ones. Tip top helping Sir!
Have downloaded your headband modification and damn it looks good for a first try. I will be completely honest and say I would not be able to make that. Different skills, although I am envious of you modders and DIY champions! The reason I mention this is that I can make suggestions, but they may be stupid, unrealistic and makes you laugh so hard,
Front view of just the headband in view they look good . Another front on with the headband and the cups looks fine. The side picture lets it down as it does not have a clean cut look BUT as mentioned before, you just made it which is spectacular in itself buddy so a high five to you!
I would say invest in leather, black. In my mind, if you create a far more comfortable headband, do not distract from those beautiful cups so black leather would be perfect. Not sure if you have thought about it, but if it is created using poppers, maybe more of the decent memory foam can be increased a ittle or decreased to fine tune the headband pressure? Just a thought!
No need to skimp on these cans, especially as if the sound profile is as I been told so many times, including your good self, it will be part of my life as for the music I listen to, it my be the answer...Fingers crossed on cup color, no defects and that planar Fostex sound!
Cheers! :)
CamperIVReally great post! I do think a removable cable would be a great thing to eventually add stock to these!
