I've had these headphones for about 5 months now. I didn't use them much in the last 4 because I have Campfire Andromedas. Now, I realize that was a mistake. Not saying these are better than the Andromedas, but they play on very different stages.
At first, I thought the PHs were a bit muddy-sounding until I started listening more closely recently. These are EXCELLENT for classic hard rock (e.g. Iron Maiden, GnR, Black Sabbath, etc.). The headphones are so surprisingly articulated, and you can feel every pick of the guitar. Try Cliffs of Dover - the soaring guitar + the well-articulated bass line are amazing.
As a few have mentioned already, the bass is phat on these. Maybe I just didn't have a good seal before, but I'm definitely noticing it more this past month. Try this song by Mondo Grosso, it's his latest album, I don't remember the Japanese name, but it features "UA". The bass comes in full and warm, with a little bit of bloom, but you FEEL it.
All in all, these headphones are my current favorites - it might be just be psychoacoustics over time, but there's something so natural to the sound of these headphones despite the elevated bass. The mids though slightly overshadowed by the bass don't lose any clarity whatsoever.

JephreIf you want to take the PH up another level install the Lawton tune-up kit dampening (driver housing pieces only, NOT THE CUP DAMPENING!) and change pads out to something like ZMF Ori / Eikon with a custom attenuator made from a thin, stiff material (like a manila folder) cut into a shallow 'C' / crescent moon shape which fits inside the ear opening. A stock PH sounds boomy, veiled, sloppy and conjested in comparison. The mods open up clarity, detail, and instrument separation to something you would almost expect of a high end open can. Bass is also enhanced over stock both in impact and quality. 'O' shaped attenuation rings (like Dekoni and even the ones in the stock pads) help with increasing bass level, but also negatively affect detail and clarity of the can along its entire frequency range - bass is also more bloomy. See picture below for the 'C' shaped attenuator made for use inside some Jmoney V3 pads...

VRacer111I'd love to look at driver dampening + original pads vs without driver dampening graphs to see how much this mod does to sound

LeopandaThe measurments shown are from someone else I know who I sent my Jmoney V3 pads to. It seems the stock pads were hard to measure correctly with the setup used because of how the stock pads are not straight but curved on the bottom. This is a measurement of the stock pads on the same equipment as the previous two ones I posted, which does not seem right
