I read moedawg140's HF review and metal571's YT review and learned the TH-900 has the most bass but too expensive, and the PH has the most bass for bassheads but the Ebony has the deepest bass extension? What is the difference in that regards. But I am still torn between the Ebony vs PH vs TH-900? I watch/enjoy movies and would use my next can for movies. It must be able to deliver the deep sub bass (not the kind of bass from music but the subwoofer/cinematic low extension from films) and I want a HP that can be able to handle that very well. Obviously, I cannot have subwoofer bass from HPs like my real HT SVS subwoofer. But something like the Denon LA7000 which I have can get close to that. TIA!

Og.Mandingothink u should go with the Ebony, has the best midrange which will work good for movie dialogue and u will get that LFE effect that u want.

Og.MandingoThey are all rated with good driver performance down into single digit Hz. The only one of the 3 mentioned that I have experience with is the TH-X00PH, and it delivers sub-bass VERY well. Really would like to compare a TH900 or TH-X00EB to my modded TH-X00PH, because the Lawton tune-up kit driver housing dampening really helps with the sub-bass quality and extension along with better detail, clarity, and instrument separation. Mids and vocals are a very noticeable improvement over stock.
Watching 'Tron Legacy' Blu-ray is quite an experience with the modded TH-X00PH. You get whomping low end sensation with highly detailed mids and highs and impressivley clean dialog at all levels, from whispers to shouts. Music with sub-bass is very nice as well. 'Black Hole' from AdyS 'So What' album has nice sub-bass starting at 2:55 and culminating to its lowest point @ 3:28... very nice on my modded TH-X00PH coming from Gustard X20U DAC with modded Gustard H10 amp. It has nice presence and feels like pressurization in the head with very controlled detail.

I don't think any of them would really be a bad choice. Reason I chose the PH because I wanted the elevated impact and detailed highs due to knowing I would be swapping out pads which would loose some low end impact, but gain slightly in detail, clarity, and extension. The wood is also the most interesting varient to me. I also like my TH-X00PH better than I ever did my Denon AH-D2000, and I really liked those Denons. The PH basically does everthing better than D2000, clearer sound, more detailed, and that sub-bass and impact...

Og.MandingoHave you tried the Beyerdynamics DT-770 for movies?
I can't imagine them being as competent for music compared to all these other high end cans, but for movies, they're the best cans I've heard to date.
Could be something to try out before you spend on a more luxurious can.
